Garage epoxy pricing in Sydney depends on the slab and scope, not just floor area. Existing coatings, repairs, moisture concerns, system build and access can all change what an installer must include. Compare written preparation and coating details before comparing quote totals.

Two garages of the same size can receive very different quotes. That is rarely padding. It usually reflects what has to happen to the concrete before any coating goes down, and which system suits the way the space is used.

Area is the starting point, not the answer

Pricing is commonly discussed per square metre, but small areas carry fixed costs: travel, equipment setup, mixing and cleanup. A single garage will often cost more per square metre than a double for that reason.

Measure length by width in metres. If your garage has a step, a nib wall or a storage alcove, note it. Irregular shapes add edging and cutting time.

The condition of the slab

Preparation is where most variation lives. A clean, uncoated slab may need a standard grind. A slab with sealer, paint, oil contamination or a thick layer of weak surface material needs more grinding passes and more consumables.

A decorative flake system involves a base coat, a broadcast of flakes, scraping and one or more clear topcoats. A solid colour system has fewer steps. Metallic finishes need more skill and time to place. Topcoat choice affects UV stability, scratch resistance and cost.

Access, timing and site conditions

Stairs, long hose runs, limited power, or a garage that cannot be cleared all affect a job. Cold or humid weather can slow curing, which can change scheduling. Rushed timeframes may limit which products are suitable.

How to get a comparable quote

Ask each installer what preparation method they use, how they deal with cracks and moisture, how many coats make up the system, and what return-to-service guidance applies. A low price with a light surface clean instead of mechanical grinding is not the same job.

What should I send to get a useful garage quote?

Send the approximate floor dimensions, wide photos and close-ups of damage, and say whether the floor is bare, painted or coated. Mention access constraints and whether the garage can be emptied. Photos support early guidance; a site assessment may still be needed.
